The Power Supply ensuring that the power supply system is safe and capable of meeting the operational performance criteria.
Reporting to the Power Supply Manager who is responsible for power system strategy and developing the functional and technical standards to which the systems will be designed.
· Managing Traction Power Supply System engineering works
· Providing technical guidance with emphasis on Traction Power Supply
· Primary engineering responsibility for electrical design tasks including requirements analysis, specification generation, interface definition, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, and board layout for low-voltage of switching power supply solutions
· Developing mathematical models
· Preparing power system studies for AC and DC electrified Railway systems
· Preparing computer simulations and studies including AC and DC load flow, short-circuit availability, motor-starting, and protective relay coordination studies
· Performing site investigations in substations and along railroad tracks
· Preparing technical and cost proposals and providing leadership, direction and guidance to senior managers to ensure quality technical services are provided that meet both the project and client requirements
· Developing test plans and procedures for electrical power systems
· Performing test and evaluation of Electrical boards and systems
· Designing power supply assemblies for specification compliance.
· Verifying that designs meet or exceed all requirements and specifications.
· Performing detailed technical analyses and create test and analysis reports.
· Developing technical solutions to known production, reliability, or performance problems.
· Generating design documentation to ensure the delivery of a quality finished product.
· Facilitating design reviews with key stake holders, including Design Engineering, Production and Manufacturing
· Defining the interfaces between the power systems and other infrastructure systems, Network Rail and other 3rd party infrastructure
· Troubleshooting and bringing up power supplies, developing and implementing test infrastructure, analyzing characterization data and make necessary design changes to meet product specification
· University degree at minimum bachelor's level of a recognized Electrical Engineering Faculty
· 12 years’ experience in Traction Power Supply System Engineering, ideally in Railway Projects
· Infrastructure projects as member of a PMC team in an international environment.
· Excellent communication and management skills and capacity to negotiate and develop good relations at work and fluent in English
· Evidence of a successful track record in a similar role on a large rail project.
· Proven track record of the design of HV and LV power systems associated with suburban and mainline railways
· Demonstrable understanding of the technical standards, both national and international, which apply to power and railway system design and operation.
· Experience in electrified railway substation and power distribution systems designs
